Create a special piece of artwork

We are going to have a go at creating our own piece of artwork through the inspiration of the author, Charlie Mackesy.

  • First, think about a quote (something somebody has said) that means a lot to you. It could be one from the book that we shared in our English activity or one of your own. I've added some copies of some more pages from the book that you could use and some other kindness quotes that you could choose.
  • Next, write it down in neat handwriting, as beautifully as you can.
  • After that, have a go at drawing some pictures to go with your quote/saying. Try and include at least 2 of the characters from the book.

The characters are:

  • The boy
  • The mole
  • The fox
  • The horse

You can use coloured pencils to add some colour , paints, craft materials, or just your normal pencil ( anything you have at home), if you would like to. Have a look at the video of Charlie Mackesy using his pen to draw his pictures. He uses lots of lines and strokes. Most of his pictures in the book are just drawn in pen, but some he adds a small amount of colour to:-

The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy

Charlie Mackesy describes the inspiration behind his new book THE BOY, THE MOLE, THE FOX AND THE HORSE. A reminder of the most important things in life.

Keep your drawings safe to bring back to school, as I would really love to create a happy display of your artwork when we return in a week's time! It will be amazing!
