Green Phonics Group

Good Morning!

I will be setting your phonics activities for the week. They will all be located on this page. If you have any questions, concerns or problems please send me a Dojo message. Thanks Mrs.Howarth

Monday 18th January

Today’s phonics focus sound is ai. This is a sound you learned before Christmas, but we will have a practise to make sure it is fresh in your brain. Show your adult the action. The action for your sound today is to put your hand up to your ear, as if you are struggling to hear somebody saying something. Tilt your head to one side and say ‘ai’, ‘ai’.

1. Let’s start with the tricky word song. Remember to look carefully at the spellings and try to put them into your memory. Remember we can’t sound these words out, so we need to remember how to read and spell them, as camera words.

2. Next watch the video to recap on today’s ‘ai’ sound.

3. Next have a go at the worksheet to practise reading and spelling the ‘ai sound. I have added both the download and online version below, for you to choose the one you prefer.

There is no expectation to print off any of the sheets. You can print, write onto the sheet on your device, write onto a piece of paper, or in a work book and send a picture, or simply spell the words/sentences onto Dojo and send. Do whichever works best for you.

Phonics is a crucial skill for your child. Please ensure that these activities are completed independently, although they may help to understand what to do, they must read and write the sounds by themselves in order to practise these crucial skills. At this stage we do not expect that words are spelled correctly, but are spelled phonetically.

Tuesday 19th January

Today’s phonics focus sound is ‘ee’. This is a sound you learned before Christmas, but we will have a practise to make sure it is fresh in your brain. Show your adult the action. The action for your sound today is to put both of your hands up to your shoulders, pretending you are a bee, and have wings. Flap your arms quickly and say ‘ee’.

1. Let’s start with a game to practice the phase 3 sounds you have learned so far. Click on the choice on the right hand side + ai, ee, igh, oa. Click on the alien that is holding the sound you hear. Click on the link below.

2. Next watch the video to recap on today’s ‘ee’ sound.

3. Next have a go at the worksheet to practise reading and spelling the ‘ee’ sound. I have uploaded both a downloadable version and the online version for you to complete the one you prefer. Here is the code to email me 81yrmqmo8pc if you complete the online version.

There is no expectation to print off any of the sheets. You can print, write onto the sheet on your device, write onto a piece of paper, or in a work book and send a picture, or simply spell the words/sentences onto Dojo and send. Do whichever works best for you.

Today’s phonics focus sound is ‘oa’. This is a sound you learned before Christmas, but we will have a practise to make sure it is fresh in your brain. Show your adult the action. A note about next week’s phonics….

I will be uploading next week’s phonics activities onto dojo, not on the school website. An activity will appear on your child’s portfolio as a ‘to do’. You will be able to access the links, sheets etc via the ‘to do’.

All of the other subjects will remain on the school web page.
