Year 2 Lesson: Multiplication by Repeated Addition

After watching the video above, I would like you to have a go at the activity below! 

Today, we are continuing to explore repeated addition. However, I am not going to give you the multiplication sentence today. I want you to work this out for yourselves using the repeated addition to help you! So, for example:

 

If you see the repeated addition:

2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 =

You would be able to count how many lots of 2 we have. We have 6 lots of 2. 

Then, you would need to write this as a multiplication sentence as follows:

6 lots of 2 becomes 6 x 2 = 

Don't forget to work out the answer too (for this one, you would count in 2s six times!!)
