Good Morning!
I will be setting your phonics activities for the week. They will all be located on this page. If you have any questions, concerns or problems please send me a Dojo message. Thanks Mrs.Howarth
Monday 18th January
You have now learned all of the phase 3 graphemes. The important part now is remembering them when reading, but more importantly when spelling. Today we are going to revise some of the phase 3 graphemes and ensure that you are using the spelling in your writing. We are going to practise ch, sh, th. Show your adult the action for these sounds.
Tuesday 19th January
You have now learned all of the phase 3 graphemes. The important part now is remembering them when reading, but more importantly when spelling. Today we are going to revise some of the phase 3 graphemes and ensure that you are using the spelling in your writing. We are going to practise ai, ee, igh, oa. Show your adult the action for these sounds.
There is no expectation to print off any of the sheets. You can print, write onto the sheet on your device, write onto a piece of paper, or in a work book and send a picture, or simply spell the words/sentences onto Dojo and send. Do whichever works best for you.
Phonics is a crucial skill for your child. Please ensure that these activities are completed independently, although they may help to understand what to do, they must read and write the sounds by themselves in order to practise these crucial skills. At this stage we do not expect that words are spelled correctly, but are spelled phonetically.

Today’s phonics focus is to revise and apply the phase 3 graphemes we have learned to spell words by themselves. You have no video today, just lots of practise.

Friday 22nd January
Today’s phonics focus is to revise and apply all of the phase 3 graphemes we have learned. It’s all fun and games today – the best way to revise!
2. Next practise spelling words with the sounds we have learned.
I have discovered a new phonics website and signed everybody up.
To log in you need your child’s initials and the password Stephens123.
Let me know if you have any problems logging in.
This is a great game to practise your recognition of the sounds and spelling.
Make a phonics word. Choose phase 3 and any of the sounds.
Click on the link below.
3. After that, practise adding sound buttons and sound bars under words – this is a skill that helps you to segment a word into it’s different parts. This supports spelling skills.
A sound button goes under an individual letter that makes one sound.
A sound bar goes under 2 or more letters which go together to make 1 sound.
It is on the same website as above, and so you will need the log in details. Choose phase 3 and any of the sounds.

A note about next week’s phonics….
I will be uploading next week’s phonics activities onto dojo, not on the school website. An activity will appear on your child’s portfolio as a ‘to do’. You will be able to access the links, sheets etc via the ‘to do’.
All of the other subjects will remain on the school web page.
