Today, use the phonics screening practise materials to practise reading different real and nonsense words. Take your time, especially with some of the nonsense words, which are split digraphs. They can be tricky! Make sure you 'sound out' and segment the words first of all, before blending them together to say the whole word. We do this on the phonics screening to make sure the words do not ' trick us.' Sometimes, the nonsense words might look like reals word that you know. If you don't 'sound out', it could trick you into saying an incorrect word.
Make a note of anything you get stuck on and let me know on your portfolio. We will carry on practising them, once you return to school.
