What will I read in Year 5?
You will choose a reading book to take home and a class library book to enjoy in class. Make sure you tell Miss Reynolds or Mrs Killeen when you are ready to change your reading book.
In class, you will be expected to use a selection of texts or books to collect a range of information about a topic.
In Year 5, you will be expected to read longer texts (at an appropriate level) and be able to refer to the text to support your own opinions and predictions. You will use inference and deduction skills to discuss messages, moods, feelings and attitudes using the clues from the text.
You will also have the opportunity to learn and recite longer poems, using your voice effectively.
