Red Phonics Group

Good Morning!

Phonics each day will be set by Mrs.Howarth. If you have any problems, concerns or questions don't hesitate to contact me via Dojo. I will also mark your child's phonics work and provide their feedback.

Wednesday 13th January

Today’s phonics focus is to practise segmenting (splitting a word into different sounds) and blending (putting sounds back together to make a word). This is a super important skill that you were starting to get so good at just before Christmas. We need to practise this skill everyday.

1. Let’s start by playing a game and seeing if you can match lower case letters with it’s capital letter. Click on the link below.

2. Now let’s practise blending and segmenting. Watch the video. Can you stretch out the words like stretchy the snake?

3. Today's activity is to practise blending a word together. Take a look at the word machine. Can you say the word before the machine does? Click on the link below.

It would be great if you could either take a picture, or send me a message to tell me how you are getting on at home. I would really appreciate the feedback - whether an activity was too easy or too tricky, then I can adjust for the next day. Thanks Mrs. Howarth
