Things you might need to know..

Homework: Our homework is set on Tuesdays to be returned the following Tuesday. The children will be given a comprehension booklet at the start of every half term, if they can do one page of questions every week that would be fantastic! We also have weekly spellings to learn on Spelling Shed and Times Table Rockstars to help learn our times tables before the Multiplication Tables Check in the first two weeks of June!

Here are some useful websites to help with maths/timestables:

Music: We are SO lucky in Year 4! We have the opportunity to learn the cornet, tenor horn or baritone for the whole year as part of our music lessons!! Mr Ford and Mr Richeton teach us from the music service in Wigan every Wednesday morning. It's really important that our instruments come to school on Wednesday mornings and are sent home again on Wednesday afternoons so that we can practise at home.

P.E: Our PE day is Monday, so that means that every Monday morning, we can come to school in our PE kits so that we are ready for our lessons in the afternoon! On the second half term of Autumn, Spring and Summer, we also have PE on a Wednesday afternoon with Rees Sports Company.

Reading: We all have reading books in class that we read regularly. Mr Burrows and Miss Davison work hard to make sure that our library is well stocked with a good range of books from new titles to old favourites!  We are also encouraged to read widely and often at home. It could be comics, great stories, information books, joke books, cook books... anything goes! Mr Burrows thinks that anything that sparks our interest is worth reading!

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding Year 4, please do ask me.

If you need any inspiration for books please have a look at The Reader Teacher.

Books can be expansive so one place to go is: World of Books

Residential: In year 4, we have a great opportunity to go to Bispham Hall Scout Camp in Billinge. This is a two night residential where we do activities such as archery, axe throwing, rifle shooting, and tie-dye t-shirts. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into a more rural part of the North West and get a bit muddy and do some fun things that we wouldn't normally get an opportunity to do! The Nomad Rangers look after us during this trip and make sure the activities are safe, fun and engaging as well as feeding us incredibly well!
