It has been great to be with everyone again this week, and hear about their Christmas break.
We are all very excited to start our iSingPOP project next week. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Jess will be in school working with all the children from Reception to Y6 teaching them their songs. The children will continue to work on them ahead of performance day, Tuesday 20th January. You will receive a message later saying whether your child is performing in the 2.00pm or 3.45pm show. Each performance lasts around 45 minutes. It has been difficult allocating the children to a performance alongside their siblings, whilst ensuring each performance contains pupils from all year groups. It is hoped that you can make the necessary arrangements to be able to see your child perform, though do get in touch if the time is impossible for you to make it. We may be able to swap a few children around if necessary. On Monday you will receive more information about the tickets (£2.00 each to go towards the cost of the project. Families will be able to get 2 tickets per family initially) and what the children are to wear for the performance – their usual skirt/ trousers etc with a brightly-coloured t-shirt. There are iSingPOP t-shirts that you can buy- but there is no expectation you do so. A bright t-shirt is perfect. On 20th January the sound engineer will be in the school hall from 10.00am setting up for the performances. This means that we will not be able to access the dinnerhall. I have spoken to Lou and Johanne in the kitchen and for this day the only option available from school for lunch will be a party bag- containing a sandwich (cheese, tuna, ham or egg), a pizza slice, a vegetarian sausage roll and vegetable nibbles. Dessert is shortbread. Children who do not usually have a school dinner, but would like to order a party bag lunch are welcome to do so, please send an email to enquiries@admin.astleysaintstephens.wigan.sch.uk and include your child’s name, class and their choice of sandwich filling. If you pay for lunches, the charge of £2.61 will appear on ParentPay. All orders must be received by 9am on Wednesday 14th January. I appreciate there is a lot of information here, but I have every confidence the performances will absolutely blow you away!
Due to iSingPOP family worship will not start until Tuesday 27th January, and this will be with Reception.
