“Creativity takes courage” Henri Matisse.

At Stephen's we love to be creative, learn new skills and discover amazing Artists and Designers.

Every child in our school has an Art sketchbook, we use these to keep hold of all our creative learning and experiment with our new skills.

Each term, every class completes an Art unit of work, you will often see our fantastic art work displayed around our school.

In Art, we look at: drawing, colour, texture, form, printing and pattern. We research artists and learn from them, we experiment with new skills and we create unique masterpieces!

ATSA  Art Exhibition

During Spring Term, four Year 5 children took part in a collaborative art project with children from 3 other schools. They created the jigsaw piece, representing all areas of our community that come together.

Year 5 and 6 children all completed an art project in class, based on Community. The children thought about the buildings, places and people that make up their own community and created art based on this. 10 children were chosen to represent St Stephen's in the Art Exhibition.

All the children who had art work in the exhibition were invited during the afternoon to Leigh Spinners Mill. They had a preview of the exhibition and met some artists who have studios in the mill - it was a fantastic afternoon. In the evening, children came back with their families for the exhibition.

The exhibition started with our community choir, St Stephen's and St George's sang a song together before each school choir performed two songs of their own.

I am so proud of all our children and already can't wait for next years Exhibition, as it's officially now an annual event!
