Low Bank Ground 2024

This year's Y6 residential trip to Low Bank Ground is from Monday 26th February to Friday 1st March. Mr. Lawrenson, Mrs Tomlinson, Mr Clark and Mrs Wallace have accompanied the children.

Monday 26th February

There was a lot of excitement and some nerves this morning as the children met in the hall ahead of their trip to Low Bank Ground. The coach was loaded and the group ready to leave just after 9.30am. After a stop at the services on the way, they arrived at Low Bank Ground ready for lunch. The afternoon was spent canoeing and hiking. This evening they are doing a treasure hunt, finishing off with a game of Bingo later.

Tuesday 27th February

They are clearly having a great time at Low Bank Ground. By the sound of things they had a wet morning, but it dried up later in the afternoon. Today’s activities have included a trip to Hodge Close Slate Quarry, a walk to Cathedral Cave, a walk up Old Man of Coniston, plus fun on the lake paddle-boarding and kayaking. One group got across the lake for their ice creams too.

Wednesday 28th February

I spoke to Mr. Lawrenson earlier. He reports that all the children are well. It's a grey day in the Lake District too- and they are all in their waterproofs ready for the day ahead. All the groups are hiking or visiting the caves this morning. This afternoon some of the children went ghyll scrambling too. At lunchtime today Mrs Peake arrived at Low Bank Ground, and Mr Clark left to come home. Thank you for giving up your time to be with the group at Low Bank Ground Mr. Clark. We look forward to having you back in school in the morning.

Thursday 29th February

Another busy day at Low Bank Ground. The groups have been on self-led walks, kayaking and ghyll scrambling. Ice creams and hot chocolates were well-deserved after kayaking across the lake.
