Year 2

This term in Science, we have been exploring the uses of everyday materials.

We have completed lots of work exploring materials, their properties and their uses.

We took our learning further by testing whether temperature changes the properties of a material - and we found out that it does! This was a great Empiribox experiment using playdough.

We also wanted to find out if different types of one material can have different properties. Our big question was: Which is the strongest and most suitable paper for wrapping a Christmas present?

The children worked hard by using one 10g at a time and dropping it into a bag hanging from a piece of paper. They dropped in one weight at a time, and finally found that printer paper is the strongest type, and paper towel was the weakest.

A great experiment! Well done, Year 2!
