Year 4
Children should be reading at silver or dark blue level and accessing Project X Level 13 or 14. Children listen to stories and discuss characters, as well as justify opinions with reference to the text. Children can read an appropriate level text of more than one page and are becoming confident in using inference and deduction to answer questions. They can talk about an author’s use of language and work out the meaning of unfamiliar words. Children can access a range of non-fiction books to collect information about a topic. They are beginning to distinguish between fact and opinion.
