  • Once Upon A Time

    Congratulations to pupils in Year 6 who took part last year in a Young Writers competition called Once Upon a Time. The children had to write a mini saga of no more than 100 words which was original. An amazing number of them are going to be published in a book called Once Upon A Time Tales from the North West which will be released in January.
    Well done to: Maddy C, Archie, Rachel, Alexander, Katy, Harriet, Zach, Elliot, Millie, Aimee, Mandy, Eva, Izzy, Katie, Callum, Jessica, Adam, Thomas, Leon, Alfie, Tom, Charlie, Alex and Michael.

    Thanks to everyone who helped with our e safety campaign by sharing, commenting on or liking Year 5's photo. On Friday they gave a thoughtful presentation on their experience to share with the other classes in the juniors. Years 3 to 6 have all had lessons on being SMART on the internet, which has led to some interesting and important discussions.   • FASS Discos

    A really big thank you to the Friends of Astley St Stephen's for organising Friday's discos. The children had a great time with the new lights and music. Special mentions to Mel Sackfield, Bev Gregory, Michelle Brennan, Jo Derbyshire, Emma Teale, Claire Smith, Tracey Chadwick and Amanda Gregory for all their organisation and willingness to run the event. Thanks also to the reception parents and the young people who helped out too.
  • Cross Country

    Congratulations to the cross country team who part in the ATSA competition today and were the overall winners. They raced brilliantly against 15 other schools. Thanks to Melissa and Mr Puckey for training up the whole team and well done to all who took part.
  • Harvesting

    This Thursday Diane and Anne from Intergen came into school to work with our Year 5 children. They harvested plants that they had grown and dried out seeds to store for next spring. Ann will be using the tomatoes to make chutney for the class to taste.
  • Autumn Outdoor Learning

    Our outdoor learning team have been busy enjoying the autumn time. Our Y5 and 6s have been exploring different kinds of trees and identifying them by the leaves. This is part of their John Muir award. In Year 4 pupils have been exploring autumn fruits and seeds; they've made some fantastic woodland creatures.

  • Poetry Slam

    Well done to Millie and Mandy who took part in Bedford High School's poetry slam last night. They wrote and performed their own poem about small achievements. After a long battle between the judges they earned second place and were highly commended for their clear speaking, presentation and content. Great work!
  • Super Cook!

    Congratulations and a HUGE thank you to our cook Sharon who celebrates 35 years of caring for and feeding the children of St Stephen's. Sharon is a very important part of our team with her great meals and delicious cakes. She is a very caring cook, who knows all the children really well. Over the years she has added to our theme days with great meals such a Pirate and Victorian dinners. Thank you for keeping us all well fed.
