  • Final Update of 2017!

    Wed 20 Dec 2017
We have had a great last few days in school. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their party: dancing and playing games. Father Christmas even managed to spare the time to visit all the parties. A huge thank you to the members of the Parents Association and all the parents who helped out at the parties. It is much appreciated. The children who went across to Church to sing and play in the 'Coffee, Carols & Cakes' on Monday morning were wonderful. Thank you everyone! Well done to our winning house this term, Windsor. They all enjoyed the festive games on Tuesday morning. We all wish you a very happy Christmas, and all the best for 2018. See you on Wednesday, 3rd January. Thank you to everyone for their cards, good wishes and gifts. Merry Christmas Everyone!

What a great week we have had in school this week. I thought all the children were fantastic in our performances. It was great to see so many of you in Church too. Thank you to all the staff who provided the items for the hampers. The draw was made at the end of the service on Wednesday morning, and all the prizes have now been claimed. On Monday morning our Y5 brass players and choir are performing at 11.00am in Church as part of the ‘Coffee, Cake & Carols’ with Astley Unlimited Band and Choir. All are welcome. We have our parties next week, and finish school for Christmas on Wednesday 20th December. Have a lovely week-end.

This week my Headteacher’s Awards have gone to Reception and Year 6. Our Reception class never fail to impress me with their behaviour and attitude in school. Our Year 6 children are really setting a great example to our younger pupils too. Well Done! We have had our last open session this week for new Reception parents. Thank you to Jyus and Lucy who helped to show them round. It was lovely to see so many of you at the Year 3 & 5 performance on Wednesday morning. Well done to all our talented musicians. Next week we have our Christmas productions on Tuesday at 4.00pm and Wednesday morning at 9.30am. There will be refreshments available in Church at both performances, and hamper tickets on sale. If our rehearsal is anything to go by yesterday, you are in for a treat! On Monday our choir will be performing at Dam House at 2.00pm. Do join us if you can. Have a lovely weekend.

This morning we started the day by thinking about getting ready for Christmas. Liberty (our eldest pupil) put the star on the tree and Amelia (our youngest pupil) turned the lights on. Ivor and Jeremy (our elves) returned, and are helping Mrs Southern spot some St. Stephen's Superstars. Look out for the postcards coming home. Thank you to everyone who came along to the Christmas Fayre after school tonight. It was lovely to see so many of you there. Special thanks to the children who entertained us in church with their singing and brass playing. The Parents Association and their families have worked so hard in ensuring the Fayre was a success- thank you to you all. We have had such a busy week in school- with the Stone Age Day, music concert, Nomad Rangers and dance competition. Next week we look forward to our Christmas dinner on Wednesday. Everyone is invited to wear a Christmas jumper for that. On Friday a group of our y5 pupils are playing in a tag rugby event. Have a lovely week-end.
