Congratulations to our Cycle Speedway team, who won the festival on Monday. Well done to Chloe, Fraser, Charlie & Jack. Well done everyone! Particular mention goes to Chloe for standing in at the last minute. Year 5 had a great morning on Tuesday at the Crucial Crew event. Thank you to all the family members and friends who came along to our Year 3 and 5 music concert on Wednesday morning. We were treated to a great performance. On Wednesday afternoon we welcomed our new Reception children and their families into school for a fun afternoon. It was lovely to see everyone. On Monday Y1 are out of school at the National Waterways Museum. Fingers crossed we will be holding our Sports day on Tuesday, when all pupils are welcome to come to school in their house colours. On Wednesday we have our first pass up day, on Thursday Y3 are performing at Bedford High School in their performance of the Wizard of Oz and on Friday Y6 are going to Gulliver’s World. Another very busy week ahead. Have a lovely week-end.

Well done to our Year 2 pupils who took part in the Leigh School Games yesterday. Mrs Howarth was so proud of the brilliant behaviour, and the way you supported one another and other competitors. A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Garden and Cake Sale yesterday. £125 was raised and will go towards the Year 5 gardening project.

My headteacher’s awards this week go to Reception and Year 5. Reception pupils were very kind in the way they welcomed Ellie in the Church Service on Wednesday. Year 5 pupils are preparing for the move to Year 6 and I am seeing many of them show a responsible attitude in school.

We start next week with the Cycle Speedway Festival on Monday after school. The Parents’ Association are holding a meeting on Monday evening at 6.00pm in school. Do join us if you can. Our Governors have a meeting in school on Tuesday morning, which involves a tour of school, meeting the School Council, having their Full Governors’ meeting and then lunch with the children. At the end of the day on Tuesday Mr Dawson (Headteacher from St. Marys High School) is in school to meet Year 4 and 5 parents. It’s Year 3 and 5’s turn to perform in their final music concert of this year on Wednesday morning. We are holding a Fun Afternoon for our new Reception children and their families on Wednesday afternoon. Our Y6 pupils have more visits to Fred Longworth and St Mary’s High School throughout the week as they prepare for September.

    Have a lovely week-end.

  • Well done!

    Thu 22 Jun 2017

It was lovely to see the many parents who came along to the Y4 and Y6 music concert yesterday. I have been really impressed by the progress the children in Y4 have made this year. Well done everyone! Again, our Y6 singing was amazing. We are all really looking forward to their show in July. Mrs Birchall attended a Y6 kwikcricket festival yesterday afternoon. The team were a credit to school and themselves, showing great team work. They received many compliments for their sportmanship. Well done to Sonny, Mia, Kyle, Phoebe, Dean, Jack, Charlie and Ollie. Tonight I joined Miss Parkinson and Kian and Harrison (from Y5) and their families at the Poetry Slam Final at Bedford High School. The boys did a great job performing the poem they had written. Well done to you both!

My Headteacher’s Awards have gone to Y1 and Y4 today. Y1 have worked so hard all week- especially on their phonics. Mr Puckey tells me that Y4 were well behaved on their visit to Manchester Museum this week. Well done to you all! Our netball team played well on Monday . Congratulations to Olivia Smith, Chloe Truong, Charlotte Poole, Mia Thomson, Lydia Willett, Liberty Greensmith, Lucy Ferguson, Jasmine Barlow, Jasmine Higson & Olivia Newell. We had a lovely service at the Cathedral on Tuesday morning with Y6. Yesterday the children all heard a performance from a string ensemble. Letters have gone home regarding music lessons. Please return them to school if your child would like to start/ continue with music lessons in the new school year. Have a lovely week-end.

My Superstars this week have been Years 2 and 3, both classes receiving my Headteacher Award today. Well done to you. On Wednesday we were able to go over to Church, and will continue to do so throughout the work at Church. If it is unsafe to do so any week before Summer we will be holding the weekly service in the school hall. On Wednesday evening we held our first meeting for our new Reception parents. It was lovely to see everyone there. On Monday after school the girls' netball team are playing and a group of our pupils are at the Cycle Speedway Taster session. On Tuesday morning next week our Year 6 pupils are going to Manchester Cathedral for the Leavers' Service, and our Year 4 pupils are at Manchester Museum on Thursday. Have a lovely week-end.
  • Church Roof Repairs

    Sun 04 Jun 2017

Apparently the scaffolding is up around Church ahead of the roof repairs. Please remind the children to keep away from it. The paths around school should be fine. Half of the staff are parking on site and the rest off site. I urge families to walk to school wherever possible. If it is necessary to drive please be considerate in your parking and not block the drives of local residents. I would really appreciate your support with this over the coming weeks

  • Back to school

    Sun 04 Jun 2017

I hope everyone has had a lovely half-term break. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back in school tomorrow for the start of the last half-term of this school year. We start the week with our netball team playing after school tomorrow. Refreshments will be available in Church at 2.30pm on Wednesday before our service with Rector Martin. On Wednesday evening there is a meeting at 6.00pm for all our new Reception parents. School is being used as a polling station on Thursday, and we are back in on Friday
