  • Another busy week!

    Fri 30 Sep 2016

You should have received our newsletter today. You will also find a copy here on the website.

This week I have been particularly impressed with Year 5. I have received so many compliments about their behaviour and attitude. Well done Year 5! I present my Headteacher’s award to you. In the Infants this week I have been impressed with Year 2. Well done to everyone in year 2! I have seen you really trying to set a good example to our younger pupils.

Y5 have been out of school today on their trip to Jodrell Bank. Miss Parkinson was really impressed with all the pupils. It sounds as though they have had a great time on the interactive games outside, seeing Lovell telescope, on their fact-finding missions and in the Planetarium.

Year 6 have had a fun afternoon with the singer Michael James this afternoon. They sounded amazing! If any more pupils in Year 6 are able to join us at the concert tomorrow, they are most welcome. Please meet in Church from 7.00pm- the children are not wearing uniform.

Don’t forget our Bingo night tonight, and the concert tomorrow night with Michael James USA.

    Have a lovely week-end.

  • The end of another busy week!

    Fri 23 Sep 2016

Well done to all our Reception pupils who have been in school full time this week.  They have settled well into school life. They received my Headteacher’s Award in assembly this morning.

It was lovely to see so many parents at our Reception Welcome Service on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to the members of the Parents’ Association for providing refreshments. There is a weekly Service in Church each Wednesday, starting at 2.50pm. Do try and join us when you can.

Welcome to Glenita who has started at St. Stephen’s this week in Year 2.

Year 3 are the winners of my Headteacher’s Award in the Juniors for the best class in the dinner hall.

You may have heard from the children about Mrs. Deakin’s news. Baby Autumn Blossom arrived last Saturday. Both Mrs. Deakin and Autumn are doing well.

Don’t forget about the Bingo Night next Friday, 30th September, starting at 6.30pm. Please order your tickets as soon as possible to help with the arrangements for the refreshments.

Year 6 – don’t forget about your workshop with Michael James USA on Friday. It should be fun. It would be great if any of you are able to join us for the concert in Church next Saturday night, October 1st. Letters have been sent home this week.

We had a surprise today when our school meals were served by Oompa Loompas on a Roald Dahl themed lunch!

    Enjoy the week-end.

  • Parking around school

    Wed 21 Sep 2016

Our neighbours on Lodge Road (directly opposite school) have reported problems with cars blocking their drives. Please could I ask that you are considerate when parking? Maybe you could consider parking further away from school and then walking to school.

Please can I also remind you about using the driveway and car park at school? For the safety of our pupils, parents are requested not to use the driveway before and after school when dropping off and collecting children. The gates will be closed in the morning from 8.40am and again from 3.00pm.

I would appreciate your co-operation with this matter.

  • Weekly update

    Fri 16 Sep 2016

There was a surprise for Y3 this week when they had a visitor on Monday for their Stone Age to Iron Age Day. Take a look at some of the artefacts they studied.

On Monday we also welcomed Adryell and Fedora to St. Stephen's.

Now we are all looking forward to seeing our Reception pupils in school full-time next week. Take a look at some of things the children have been doing with Mrs Ogden and Mrs Newton.

  • Headteacher Awards

    Fri 16 Sep 2016

This week I asked the children to think about the noise in the dinner hall and to try to keep the floor clean as they are eating their dinner. I am pleased to say that we have noticed the children trying hard with this. Well done to Years 1 and 5 who have received my award for the greatest improvement this week. Keep it up!

  • Welcome back!

Fri 09 Sep 2016 Mrs Southern

Welcome back everyone. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone – in particular the pupils- for making me feel so welcome.

We extend a special welcome to all our new Reception pupils and to Elliott in Y2. It has been great to see everyone back in school. Welcome also to Mrs Howarth teaching in Year 2. Mrs Deakin has been in school this week. She finishes school today before starting her maternity leave. We wish her all the best.

In our assemblies we have been thinking about our fresh start and what changes we might want to bring about for ourselves this year. Our Wednesday Church services will continue this year, starting at approximately 2.50pm in Church. Do try and join us. Thank you to Rector Martin for joining us in our assembly today. He will be with us on Wednesday 21st September in Church at 2.50pm when we welcome our Reception pupils into the family of St. Stephen’s. All families are most welcome.

I hope this lovely weather continues and that you all have a great week-end.
