On Tuesday our Anti-crash crew attended a meeting at Garrett Hall as they continue their campaign to make the roads around school safer. Look out for information coming home from them soon. On Wednesday our new Reception children and their families spent the afternoon in school. We had a lovely afternoon getting to know one another. It was a beautiful afternoon and the children were able to enjoy time practising their circus skills in the garden. On Wednesday a group of Year 6 pupils took part in a kwik cricket tournament at Astley and Tyldesley Cricket Club. They played brilliantly, winning one game and losing another. Well done to Jennifer, Daniel, Brooke, Sam, Andrew, Sean, Ashton and Micah.

Last week we had our new Reception parents' meeting. It was lovely to meet them ahead of their children starting in September. Our Infant Singing Group and Junior Performing Arts Group took part in a Music Festival last week. They did a super job, and you will be able to hear them in a concert we have in school on Wednesday 3rd July. On Friday of last week we joined other schools in the borough and paid £1.00 to come to school out of uniform. The money raised (£152) has been sent to 'Real Change', a fund for Wigan and Leigh that pays for items that local people need to end and prevent homelessness. On the same day many of you brought the Bags2school in to school full of unwanted clothing. This raised just over £100 for the Parents' Association. Thank you so much for your support. This week started with a Music Alive jazz performance, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Also on Monday Chloe, Luke, Fraser and Daniel took part in a cycle speedway taster session ahead of a competition on 24th June. Well done to the four of them. On Wednesday Sharon and Kelly prepared a special Maths Themed Lunch. The children enjoyed this, especially if they won a prize! Yesterday we had our school discos after school. These too were enjoyed by many of our pupils. Thank you again to the Parents' Association for organising and running them, and the staff who came along to support. We are now all ready for the weekend. Let's hope the weather starts to improve. Please note that Sports Day will not be taking place on Tuesday 18th June. We are aiming to hold it on our reserve day of Friday 28th June.  Have a lovely weekend.
