We have had another busy week in school- and it has certainly been a hot one! Well done to our Cycle Speedway team on Monday. They did a great job, coming in 3rd place. Congratulations to Fraser, Daniel, Chloe and Luke. It was lovely to see many of our new Reception pupils and their families at the Fun Afternoon on Wednesday. Our Year 6 pupils did a great job setting up and helping out. Thank you to them all. On Wednesday we also had a Kwik Cricket team out of school with Mr Lawrenson. The team did a great job winning two and losing one. Well done to Harrison, Bethany, Mia, Harvey, Charlie, Leo, Matthew and Kian. On Monday all the children will spend the day with their new teacher. Please check on the newsletter that should have come home today. There’s lots of information it- in particular about our Special Day on Wednesday 11th July, when Bishop mark of Middleton is with us. Have a great weekend.

We had a great morning together on Tuesday when we held our Sports Day. Congratulations to the winning house, Tudor. It was lovely to have so many of our families with us too. Well done to all those who took part in the parents tug of war! Thank you to you all for your support on Wednesday morning with the road accident outside school. I am attending a meeting in a couple of weeks with other local Headteachers and the Council about our concerns regarding the local roads. Everyone in Year 3 looked fabulous yesterday as they had their Roman Day. Year 2 took part in the KS1 Leigh Games yesterday. They came away with 2 awards nominated by the staff in other schools – Spirit of Games awards for teamwork and passion. Well done everyone! Today we enjoyed our 3rd special lunch cooked by Sharon, which included Manchester tart. Yum! The children are bringing home letters today about ordering school meals. They will now order them in class at the start of the day. Have a lovely week-end.

We had a super time on Monday morning when all the children (apart from Y6 who were having their football session) were treated to a brass performance from teachers from Wigan Music Service. We had a lot of fun learning about the instruments and the music. Letters have now come home to the children in Year 2 about music lessons next year if they are interested. Next week we are hoping to hold our Sports Day on Tuesday morning, starting around 9.30am. Mr Lawrenson will be out of school on Wednesday afternoon with a team playing Kwik Cricket. Rector Martin is with us in Church on Wednesday afternoon, and we finish the week with our Special lunch number 3. I believe this includes Manchester tart. Yum! have a lovely week-end.

It was great to see everyone back in school on Monday ready for the start of this final half-term. Yesterday we had a busy day. In the morning our school choir took part in a music festival in Church with 6 of our local primary schools. It was lovely to hear all the choirs sing, and Mrs Lowe and I were extremely proud of our choir. Well done everyone! Mr Lawrenson was out of school with a group of our Y6 pupils taking part in the cricket qualifiers. They did a great job, but sadly won't be progressing to the next stage. Last night we welcomed our new Reception parents to the family of St. Stephen's. Today we enjoyed our 2nd 50th birthday lunch prepared by Sharon. Tonight we are looking forward to our family quiz. Have a great week-end.
