  • 30th March, 2017

    Thu 30 Mar 2017
Yesterday, I am proud to say, our Infant dance team came 2nd place in their competition. Great result again. Well done everyone! This morning we had our Easter service in Church. It was lovely to have many of our families with us. Well done to all the pupils for their contributions. Thank you to Mrs Ogden for organising the service. I'm sure you'll agree the cross and the butterflies looked stunning. This afternoon Mr Puckey has been out of school with our Y3 tag rugby team. They played 6 games- won 3, lost 2 and drew 1. Great effort everyone. We finish our term with our House reward for the winning house in the morning. Who will that be? The last thing we will be doing tomorrow is our Easter Raffle. Good luck everyone!

Thank you to all the parents/ carers and governors who were able to join us for our Celebration assembly yesterday. We are very proud to have been recognised as an outstanding Church School. Many thanks to Rector Martin and Revd Angela for leading us in our assembly, and to Sharon and Julie for their hard work in preparing all our lunches. I hope the gifts arrived home safely and the children will treasure them. Tomorrow morning we have our Easter Service in Church, starting around 9.15am. Refreshments will be available beforehand if you are able to join us.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Music Concert on Wednesday morning. Congratulations to all our musicians in year 3 & 5 for the great performance. Everyone looked great today as they dressed up for Comic Relief. At the last count, £193 had been raised. Well done everyone! Raffle tickets are still on sale for the Easter raffle which will be drawn next Friday. All donations of easter eggs would be gratefully received. Next week we look forward to celebrating our outstanding Siams Inspection result on Tuesday. If children have not ordered a packed lunch now they will need to bring in their own. We will be enjoying a few different activities in the afternoon, before we have a service in school at 2.30pm. Please let the office staff know if you would like to attend that service. Due to this service and the Easter service on Thursday morning, we will not be having the usual Wednesday afternoon Church service.

Have a lovely week-end. Let’s hope this beautiful weather continues throughout the week-end.

  • Oh what a night!

    Tue 21 Mar 2017
I have just returned from a great evening's entertainment at Robin Park where our Y5's were performing in the Let's Sing! Concert. Well done to each and every one of you. You made me so proud tonight. A BIG thank you to Miss Parkinson and Mrs Killeen for all their work with the children in getting ready for tonight's performance. Congratulations too to our lacrosse team who took part in the Manchester Games today. It was a tough day for the team but Miss Birchall tells me they were impeccably behaved and above all, with each and every defeat they were great sportspeople and ambassadors for St Stephen's. Well done to you all.

We come to the end of another busy week. Thank you to everyone who came along to the Y4 & 6 music concert on Wednesday morning. I’m sure you’ll agree that the Y4 brass players performed really well as a team. Y6 did a great job with their beautiful singing, and their hand-bell performance was amazing! Well done to Emily and Phoebe on the piano. All the staff who went to Clitheroe Castle yesterday with Y4 were so impressed with all the children. I received many compliments about their behaviour and enthusiasm. Well done Y4. My Headteacher’s Award goes to you today. I have also been impressed by Y1 this week. I have noticed them being very sensible around school. My Headteacher’s Award also goes to you. A group of Y6 pupils were at the Tri-Golf competition at Leigh Sports Village too yesterday, coming 2nd place. Well done to the team.

This week we are all very proud to have been recognised as an OUTSTANDING Church school. You should have received a letter inviting you to our Celebratory Communion Service in school on Tuesday 28th March at 2.30pm. The children are all invited to join us in our party packed lunch on that day (their own packed lunch is fine).

In our photograph you can see our Infant House captains: Georgina & Aston (Stuart), Laura & Austin (Hanover), Capprice & Max (Windsor), Florence & Aaron (Tudor).
