Tropical Friday? The weather let us down this morning, but there has been lots of ‘sunshine’ in school. We started the day with a wonderful assembly lead by our Year 6 pupils. They shared their achievements and happy times. Good luck to you all in your new High Schools. We said goodbye today to Oscar W, Ben, Jayde, Alice and James as they move house and start in new schools in September. A couple of the photos show the card we received from Donna's Dream House following on from Y6 ticket sales at their show. Our new House Captains and Vice Captains were named in assembly today. They are: Kian, Bethany, Faye, Olivia G, Jasmine, Fedora, Megan, Liberty, Ellie, Aidan, Hannah, Olivia D, Olivia N, Harrison, Lucy & Matthew. Congratulations! We will be presenting the children with their badges at the start of the new term. We all wish you a very happy and safe Summer. See you on Tuesday 5th September.

  • Happy Times!

    Wed 19 Jul 2017

We were joined in school this morning by a number of family members for a Leavers' Service for our year 6 pupils. It was a special time as we reflected on the time our Year 6 pupils have been with us. The children were all presented with a Bible from Church. Afterwards cake and tea was enjoyed by all the Year 6 pupils and their family members. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the morning. Look out for our final newsletter coming home tomorrow. Friday is our last day in school. This will be a non-uniform day (no money required) and 'toy day'. The children are welcome to join the staff in their 'Tropical Friday' theme- bright colours/ hawaiian shirts/garlands are all welcome. Here we can see the winning team on Sports Day and the House Captains proudly holding the trophy, and a picture from the Year 6 performance, 'Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies'.

    Fri 14 Jul 2017

The children have now had two pass up days in preparation for next year. This should make the move easier in September. This morning I walked (at a pace following Mrs Birchall!) with year 6 to St. George’s Church in Tyldesley. We had a lovely service with Garrett Hall, St. George’s Central, St. John’s Moseley Common, Tyldesley Primary School and Fred Longworth High. The children sang one of their songs from the show, and did a great job. Tomorrow I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Leaver’s Ball. Next week is as busy as ever with the Year 6 play on Monday and Tuesday. We are trying- for the final time- to hold our sports Day track events on Tuesday morning. On Wednesday we have our Leaver’s Communion service in school at 9.15am. All are welcome to join us in the school hall. There will be refreshments afterwards in the Community room. On Wednesday 19th July from 3.00pm we are having a clear out of ‘Lost Property’. Do come along to the Community Room if you are missing bits of uniform. As Friday is our last day in school, the staff are having ‘Tropical Friday’. All children are invited to come to school out of uniform- and can join us if they like in brightly coloured clothes, shorts etc.

  • Sports Day

    Wed 12 Jul 2017

Yet again we had to cancel our Sports Day yesterday. We are going to try to grab the chance at some point before the end of term, and will keep you updated. We are all so proud of one of our year 6 pupils, Honey. She recently took part in the Dance World Cup competition in Germany - one of 3 dancers selected to represent team England. She took part in individual and group numbers in ballet, tap and modern. Congratulations Honey! We look forward to seeing what the future brings for you.

On Sunday there's a group of staff taking part in the Race for Life at Haydock. There's a sponsor form outside the office if you would like to sponsor the team.

The children enjoyed the first of their pass up days on Wednesday. It was lovely to see our new Reception children and families in school too. Yesterday we had a group of Y2’s out of school with Mrs Howarth playing tag rugby. They spent a hot, but enjoyable afternoon at a tag Rugby tournament. Mrs Howarth was incredibly proud of the team as they showed super commitment, team work and perseverance. Well done to Glenita, Adryell, Theo, Heidi, Maelan, Chloe & Aaron. Last night Mrs Pollard (our Chair of Governors) and I went to Bedford High to watch our Y3 children perform in the Wizard of Oz. They were amazing, and we were so proud of each and every child who performed. Well done to all of you. Our Year 6 pupils have been to Gullivers World today. The staff said all the children were a credit and had a great time. Looking to next week, we hope to have Sports Day on Tuesday, and we have our next Pass Up day on Wednesday. On Friday morning our Y6’s are at St. George’s Church, Tyldesley for a Leavers’ service. This is followed by the Leavers’ ball next Saturday,15th July. Busy. Busy. Have a great weekend.

  • Reserve Sports Day

    Tue 04 Jul 2017

It was a shame that we weren't able to hold our Sports day today- but for everyone's safety and enjoyment it was postponed. The reserve day is next Tuesday- 11th July. I have attached a couple of photos. One shows Niamh, Aaron, Seren, Oscar and Gracie with their food chain work. Terrific work everyone! I've also attached a photo from Y6 at the cathedral last month. Tomorrow is our pass up day. We welcome our new Reception children into school and all other classes will be moving up to their new teacher for the day. We have received our Year 6 Sats results today. We are all extremely pleased and proud of each and every one of you. Well done!

  • Sports Update

    Mon 03 Jul 2017

Congratulations to our girls' football team, who played with enthusiasm and showed great sportsmanship tonight. They lost 2 of their games, and won one. Mrs Birchall says the girls were lovely, polite and lots of fun, smiling and cheering throughout. Well done girls! Tomorrow we are still hoping to hold our Sports Day. We are aiming to start the rounders at 9.30am, and the track events from appropximately 1.15pm. The children can come to school wearing something in their house colour. A text message will be sent out in the morning if Sports day is not going ahead.
