Our week started earlier than usual for our year 6 pupils. They met in school at 7.45am to have breakfast before going to Manchester Cathedral. I hear that they had a super day of discussions and workshops exploring the interaction of science and faith. A group of Key Stage 2 pupils attended a meeting at St. Mary's High School with Mrs Lowe and Mr Peacock yesterday. The purpose of the meeting was to share concerns about Manchester Road and the number of accidents in the area. The group will be letting us know about their plans. Tomorrow we are all looking forward to the Christmas Fayre- from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Our Performing Arts group will be singing at 12 o'clock in church and some of our musicians playing beforehand. Hope to see you there.

What a busy week that has been! Many of our Y6 pupils have been doing their Bikeability this week. The instructors were really impressed with all the pupils. Well done! This week has also been anti-bullying week. It has given us the chance to reinforce the message of choosing respect. We agree that we can respectfully disagree with each other. We have been able to celebrate our uniqueness as individuals. Take a look at our photos from Odd Socks Day. Yesterday our School Council were very excited as they met Phil Trow from BBC Radio Manchester as he was 'Pounding the Streets for Pudsey.' As I drove back from a meeting at lunchtime I heard Luke and Brooke telling Phil about our Children in Need Raffle. Seren was also given a mention for the Lucky Dip she has organised. What a great set of children we have! Today everyone has looked fabulous in their pyjamas as we have raised money for Children in Need. At last count it was £335.61. You can see some of our raffle prize winners in the photos. Have a lovely weekend.

On Tuesday morning the MOMO theatre company were in school to deliver a road safety performance to our Junior children. This was an entertaining show, with some really important messages. We thought about keeping safe on our bikes and crossing the roads. In the afternoon we had our first parent/ teacher meetings of this year. The meetings ran differently this year, with the meetings taking place in the classrooms. The parents I spoke to liked this arrangement and felt they had more privacy. As always, I welcome your feedback. A big thank you everyone today for your generous donations for the Christmas Fayre. More details will follow about the Fayre, which is taking place on Saturday 24th November.

We started our week off with individual class photos. Please return all orders to the school office. Yesterday there was much excitement in Reception when the PCSO came into school to talk to them. They even saw a police car. Congratulations to Year 2, who had the best attendance last half-term in the Infants, and to Year 4 in the Juniors. Keep it up everyone. It is absolutely crucial that all children are in school each day to make the most of all that school has to offer. Please do try to keep all routine appointments outside the school day. This week I have been particularly impressed with years 2 and 3. My Headteacher's awards have gone to them today. Well done!
