  • Our victorious lacrosse team!

    Sat 11 Mar 2017

Here’s our victorious lacrosse team! They came 1st in their section and then 2nd overall, earning themselves a place in the Manchester Finals on March 21st. In her message to me Miss Birchall says, “Honestly I have never been more proud to have a team at a sporting event as I have been today. They did themselves proud and were superb representatives of our school. To have other school staff, staff running the event and the staff at LSV compliment you on the behaviour and impeccable manners of the children at St Stephen's really made my day.” Congratulations to Dean, Charlie, Liam, Jack, Olivia, Phoebe L, Phoebe J.

The week started with our Parent/Teacher meetings on Monday. Hopefully you found the meetings useful – both to see how your child is progressing and any areas for development. Thank you to everyone who completed the questionnaires on homework. We will be taking your responses into consideration as we review the homework policy. We have been looking at the work of Julia Donaldson in recognition of World Book Day. Everyone enjoyed the work they did in their houses this week. We have had 3 teams of our Junior children taking part in competitions: Water polo, Futsal & Lacrosse. Congratulations to all 3 teams. Our Year 3 children have had a great day today as Romans. Well done to everyone for taking part today. Y6 have brought home a letter today about Confirmation.

Another busy week next week with our Music concert for our year 4 & 6 pupils on Wednesday, Year 4’s visit to Clitheroe Castle on Thursday and Year 5 have their last session on Friday with Keith Orrell in preparation for Let’s Sing! on Tuesday 21st March. Look out for details about what we are doing for Comic relief on Friday 24th March. Here you can see the Water Polo team.

Yesterday Mrs Newton was out of school with a group of our Key Stage 1 children at a dance competition. The children were so excited on their return to school to tell me that they had come 2nd (out of 12 schools). I’ve heard they were brilliant. Well done to everyone – to Gracie, Kate, Sophia, Zack, Laycy, Capprice, Laura & Jorja. I am so proud of you. Thank you Mrs Newton (and your helpers Honey & Phoebe J) for your work with the children.

Yesterday Mr. Haigh was in school with us for the day inspecting our distinctiveness as a Church School. All the children were an absolute credit to the school. We will hear the outcome shortly. My Headteacher Awards have gone today to every single class in school. Mr. Haigh commented on their impeccable behaviour and manners, politeness, respect, love of learning and care for one another.
