    Our fantastic Year 4 golf team played brilliantly in the ATSA competition at Astley Driving range. They played well and made second place. Well done to all of you and thanks to all the parents who turned up to support the team.
  • Landscapes of the Future

    Today we had an artist in school working with a talented group of KS2 pupils. His sessions were all about landscape art and the children produced some fantastic work. First they learnt about perspective in drawing. Then they drew with scissors, making cut-outs then creating large crayon rubbings. Finally they made 3D pop-up landscapes. Paul, the artist running the workshop, complimented the group on their great attitudes, behaviour and hard work. Well done all of you - a credit to St Stephen's.
  • Athletics awards

    Today Year 5 Hanover house were the first to take part in the house athletics competition. Pupils are competing in houses and also individually taking part in the English Schools' Athletics Association awards.

    Well done to Aimee Gregory who gained a national Silver award and Archie Lewis, Maddison Higson, Katy McMahon and Jess Sackfield who gained Bronze national awards.

    To take part pupils have to complete: 75m sprint, 600m distance run, standing long jump, shot put and javelin. This leads to a pentathlon award.

  • Challenge 4 change

    On Thursday some of our Y5/6s had a brilliant time taking part in Challenge 4 change. They worked together to develop their team skills. Together they worked on communicating well, learning about one another and encouragement. By the end of the session they made an excellent, caring team.

  • Brass band

    Today the Music Alive team gave a brass performance for Y2-Y5s. Mr Puckey led the marching band, while Fintan and Liam from Y4 played the theme from Star wars with the band. If your child would like to learn an instrument next year please return the music service form to school. Thanks.
  • Sainsbury's Summer Games

    It has been an amazing day for sport at St Stephen's today. We sent four teams to the Sainsbury's Wigan Summer games at Leigh Sports Village. Our girls' football team won all their games gaining gold. The year 5 lacrosse team won all their games gaining gold. Year 4's golf team gained the most points earning gold and the Y5/6 team gained bronze. Not only did they play brilliantly, but they were also given awards for honesty, passion and self belief. Well done to everyone who took part. Thanks to Mr Puckey, Melissa, Gill, Tim and Mrs Mills for taking the teams.
  • Percussion performance

    Today we had a Music Alive performance for KS2. The team brought along an amazing range of percussion instruments and gave us all a great performance. There will also been a brass performance on Wednesday as part of our music lessons. KS2 children will be bringing home leaflets about how you can book individual music lessons for September. Pupils in Y5 now will been able to have free instrument hire and discounted lessons for Y6.
